Kong Heng Square

Semester break is finally here and I'm back in my hometown, Ipoh for the month! Most of my time is mostly spent at home since most of my friends are either still in college or working part time. However, I do spend some time wandering around Ipoh with my brother when he's not too busy with his friends. This time, we went to Kong Heng Square in Ipoh Old Town for lunch. Decided to have our lunch at Burps & Giggle. This was my second time there, first with my friend and now with my brother. But the last time I was there, we only sat down for tea after our food endeavors at Plan B.

Burps & Giggles is a hipster cafe located at Kong Heng Square together with other cafes like Patisserie Boutique, Plan b and Bits & Bobs. The place is decorated with Christmas ornaments, garlands and a lot of fairy lights. Was feeling extremely hungry that day, as I left without having breakfast. Decided to order something fulfilling. I went with Greeko burger and Chips as snacks. Brother went with his usual salmon dish.

The burger was served within 15 minutes of ordering, or maybe the time passed too fast while I was admiring the interior with my brother. It was served with a knife stabbed in the middle for support. Good presentation point for this. The burger was sufficient enough for a person who hasn't eaten since he/she woke up. For my Greeko Burger, there's lamb, red pepper sauce, onions, cheese, and veggies (psst, that's all I remember). Although eating this burger can get a bit messy sometimes, but I was already expecting that. The homemade lamb patty compliments well with the red pepper sauce. The cheese slice could have been more melted (maybe pre-melt it for a few seconds before plopping it onto the patty?). besides, everything was good. As for the chips, it was as what I expected it to be, crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Not to say, the chips was thick and that's how it's supposed to be. Condiments were already prepared on the tables, ketchup, mustard and Tabasco sauce. Drizzled Tabasco sauce onto the chips which were served in a tin mug. The chips was enough for two person.

After lunch, we walked around the square and saw so many Instagram-able photos. I only took a few photos though. Maybe I was not really in the mood, with all the people walking around. Brother went and bought an ice ball at Bits & Bobs. So we just wandered around the independent shop lots selling homemade items and trinkets. I was really tempted to get the elephants sold there, too cute! After he finished his ice ball, we just walked around Concubine Lane which was just nearby. It wasn't as cramped as usual, maybe cause it was a Monday. Basically just walked around and waiting around for tourists to take photos (we were polite enough to wait around and not disturb their photo session).
